Overwater Basses
All Phil's main basses are custom-built for him by the guys at Overwater (Chris May, Haydn Williams, Lawrence Blackadder). He uses Overwater strings too.
J-Retro Preamp
All Phil's J-type basses use the fantastic J-Retro preamp by John East.
Laney Amplification
Phil has just taken delivery of Laney's impressive new Nexus tube amp and the matching cabs.
Kent Armstrong Pickups
Most of Phil's current basses use Kent Armstrong pickups.
Bareknuckle Pickups
Phil's Squier basses, a P and a J, are both equipped with prototype Bareknuckle Pickups. Wound with enamel wire and hence harking back to 60s and 70s pickups, these are very "open" sounding, warm and fat.
Bartolini Pickups
Phil's new Overwater basses are equipped with Bartolini pickups.
